Home

There really is no place like home. I love being at home. There is nothing I like to do that I can't do at home... Or maybe I'm just boring!
Let's see, I can...

Snuggle with my awesome husband.

Eat really good food.

Read or Watch Movies.

Sew.

Crochet.

Stay in my p.j.'s all day & Surf the web.

(I never said I was a beauty queen! I really LOVE this terrible photo though cuz it gives me a great laugh!)

Put curlers in my hair and play beauty salon or I can throw on an apron and pretend I'm my own personal maid. (Hee! Hee! Whatever gets the house work done, right?)

Plus:
I can use MY OWN toilet!
(Obviously, no photo here.)

The only thing I love to do that I can't do from home is spend time on the beach but luckily, I'm only 3 miles away from it!

My Sweet Little Baby

This is Tinky. She's a 4 month old Chihauhau mix and she's my sweet little baby! I am convinced that this little girl understands every.word.I.say. So far she has been very quick at learning her commands and I just discovered that a tiny piece of kitty kibble is her FAVORITE treat! What is it about cat food that dogs love so much??? She knows sit, down and up so now we're working on roll-over.
Tinky is so amazing that she knows to go to her own "room", which is her crate, at night when it's time for bed. She knows how to ride in the basket on my bicycle (she did have to learn on her own once that she can't jump out!). She knows how to hide in my purse if I have to run into Walmart or Hobby Lobby.
Just like Mommy, Tinky loves the beach! She's not too fond of the waves yet but she really enjoys people watching. In fact, we have to start getting ready to go now cuz we're all going to the beach this morning for a photo shoot! Fun! Fun! Fun!
Stay tuned...

Not Just A Bunch of Purdy Flowers...

I.Love.Flowers. I would have flowers everywhere if I were rich! I should probably clairfy that when I say "I love flowers" I mean actual flowers, not like flower curtains or flower wall paper or flower print clothes (well I do have one flowery shirt and I do happen to like flowery skirts but that's different, somehow.)

Anyway, I love to put a single flower in a little old, glass milk bottle and place it on a table or shelf or dresser; it makes such a lovely, simple little decoration.

I also love flowers in hair. The prettiest hair-do I ever saw was Julia Ormond's in Legends of the Fall when she comes to the supper table with all those little white flowers in her hair.
I recently tried to wear flowers in my hair but they didin't last long because they kept falling out. Plus they start to wilt within a couple of hours then they're not so pretty anymore. So I thought it was time for a project! I would find some really pretty, life-like, artificial flowers and attach them to hair clips, that way I can always have pretty flowers in my hair that won't fall out or wilt. Fun! Fun! Fun!

So with the help of 2 nice bouquets, a package of snap-clips, and my trusty glue-gun, I now have an exclusive assortment of delightful hair accessories! AND I came up with a nifty way of storing/displaying them too! When I cut the flower heads off the stems, I didn't toss those stems into the trash, no way! I saved them and I grabbed a terra-cotta pot, stuffed a piece of floral foam down in it, put some hot glue on the ends of the stems and poked them down into the foam. Then I just clipped the flower-clips to the tops of the stems and ta-da!, you have a pretty little bouquet of hair flowers!

A Nightgown for Emily

So I was taking an inventory of my fabric (most of which is scraps) and decided to make use of a jersey type knit in pink camo. The first thing that came to mind was a nightgown for my niece Emily.
Putting the nightgown together was VERY simple. First, I folded the fabric in half horizontally then squared off the edges, then I cut 4" off the selveged end. These ends will become the sleeves.
I then double folded the ends, stuck in some trim and sewed it shut.
Next, I seamed up both sides with a french seam then I hemmed the bottom, then the top (leaving an opening for the elastic). After inserting the elastic and closing up the opening, I attached the sleeves and a cute little bow and VIOLA!
Now the next time Emily comes for an overnighter, she'll have a new nightgown to sleep in!

Spring Please

I'm sick of winter, I want SPRING! I'm tired of being cold. I've had enough of layering my clothes. I want to go outside and play with some plants! I want to wear a sun dress! I want to lay on the beach again! I want sand between my toes!

For cryin out loud, where the heck is SPRING???

Well, I guess I'll just sit around here and wait for you to show up. But please hurry up, will ya?
